To do so, follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Draw a perpendicular bisector of AB which intersects it at O. A B
                                                                                                         O

Step 2: Draw a circle with centre at O and radius AO or OB. A B
                                                                                                         O

To construct a circle passing through three non-collinear points
                    Let’s draw a circle passing through three non-collinear points A, B and C.
To do so, follow the steps given below.
                                                                                                           A

Step 1: Join point A with points B and C. Draw perpendicular bisectors B O
of AB and AC which intersect each other at O.

                                                                                                                   C
                                                                                                           A

Step 2: Draw a circle with centre at O and radius OA, OB or OC. O
                                                                                                 B

                                                                                                                   C

                                                             EXERCISE 18.2

                      1. With the help of a ruler and a compass, draw a circle of radius:
                         (a) 5 cm (b) 3.5 cm
                      2. With the help of a ruler and a compass, draw a circle of diameter:

                         (a) 12 cm (b) 8 cm
                      3. Draw ∠ABC = 90°. Construct a circle passing through the points A, B and C.
                      4. Draw a line segment PQ of length 6 cm. Then, do as directed.

                         (a) Draw a circle with PQ as the diameter.
                         (b) Draw a circle with PQ as the radius and centre at P.
