storing it on your computer, instead, you’re reading it from the e-mail service. POP works by
                    contacting your e-mail service and downloading all your new messages from it. Once they are
                    downloaded onto your PC, they are deleted from the e-mail service and hence can only be
                    accessed using the same computer. If you try to access your e-mail from a diff erent device, the
                    messages that have been previously downloaded won’t be available to you.




                            Computer Etiquette


                      Not all information available on the Internet is correct. We should always cross-check it with multiple
                      sources. We should be careful while downloading the information from the Internet.



                       Tech Terms

                      Personal Area Network (PAN):  A type of wireless network

                      Wide Area Network (WAN):  A type of network that connects computers across large distance

                      Local Area Network (LAN):  A type of network that connects several computers within a confi ned
                      geographical area

                      Metropolitan Area Network (MAN):  A type of network that is usually confi ned to a metropolitan
                      city
                      Wi-fi :  A wireless fi delity

                      Modem:  A data communication equipment that translates signals

                      Switch:  A device that forwards data packets to their destination
                      Hub:  A device that provides a common connection to all devices on LAN

                      Domain Name:  A readable computer address that identifi es the location of a computer on the
                      Internet
                      Hyperlinks:  The underlined or highlighted words in hypertext

                      Hypermedia:  A higher version of hypertext that contains links not only to text but also to other
                      forms of information such as sounds, movies and pictures
                      Internet Service ProvideR (ISP):  An organisation that sells the Internet subscriptions to the public

                      Internet:  A technology for linking LANs into a huge global computer network
                      IP Address (Internet Protocol Address):  The 32-bit address that identifi es the location of a
                      computer on the Internet

                      Website:  A collection of web pages that usually consists of a home page and many related pages
                      along with hyperlinks
                      File Transfer Protocol (FTP):  An Internet protocol which is used for uploading and downloading
