Working of HTTP
HTTP is a request-response protocol. A web browser initiates a request to a server, typically
by opening a TCP/IP connection. The request itself comprises of a request. On receiving the

request, the server sends a response. When the response is completed, the browser or the
server may terminate the TCP/IP connection.

                    File Transfer Protocol

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is the simplest protocol used to exchange fi les between
two or more computers on the Internet. FTP is a client-server protocol that relies on two
communication channels between client and server. Client initiates conversations with server
by requesting to download a fi le. Using FTP FTP

                    Internet Message Access Protocol and
                    Post Offi ce Protocol

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol
and POP stands for Post Offi ce Protocol. IMAP
and POP are the two methods to access e-mail.
IMAP is the recommended method when you
need to check your e-mails from several diff erent
