Working of HTTP
HTTP is a request-response protocol. A web browser initiates a request to a server, typically
by opening a TCP/IP connection. The request itself comprises of a request. On receiving the
request, the server sends a response. When the response is completed, the browser or the
server may terminate the TCP/IP connection.
File Transfer Protocol
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is the simplest protocol used to exchange fi les between
two or more computers on the Internet. FTP is a client-server protocol that relies on two
communication channels between client and server. Client initiates conversations with server
by requesting to download a fi le. Using FTP FTP

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
It specifi es the procedure for sending and
receiving text messages over the Internet by
e-mail servers. It also specifi es the format of
e-mail messages. It is used to send messages to
mail client and then to mail server.
Internet Message Access Protocol and
Post Offi ce Protocol
IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol
and POP stands for Post Offi ce Protocol. IMAP
and POP are the two methods to access e-mail.
IMAP is the recommended method when you
need to check your e-mails from several diff erent
devices such as phone, laptop and tablet. IMAP
allows you to access your e-mail wherever you
are from any device. When you read an e-mail
using IMAP, you aren’t actually downloading or
