Example 15: If 1 m 70 cm cloth is required to make a pillow cover. How much cloth is required
to make 48 such pillow covers?
Calculation
Solution: Length of cloth required to make 1 pillow cover = 1 m 70 cm

Number of pillow covers to be made = 48 × 4 8

 Total length of cloth required to make 48 pillow covers 1 3 6 0

= 1.70 m × 48 = 81.60 m

So, 81.60 m of cloth is required to make 48 pillow covers.

Example 16: If 4 bags of wheat weigh 50.280 kg, find the weight of each bag.

Solution: Total weight of 4 bags of wheat = 50.280 kg Calculation
 Weight of each bag = 50.280 kg  4 1 2 . 5 7

= 12.57 kg – 4

So, the weight of each bag of wheat is 12.57 kg. 1 0

(g) The weight of 54 identical wooden boxes is 2,160 kg. Find the weight of each box.
