                      Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to learn:
 about basic geometrical shapes (square, rectangle, circle, triangle,
                           diamond and semicircle).
 to make or create shapes through paper folding and paper cutting.
 about lines (straight, curved, vertical and horizontal).

                          to trace shapes.

                    Basic Shapes

Let’s learn about some basic shapes. Before doing so, let’s understand these
                    two terms.

 Corner: A corner in a fi gure is the point where the two straight lines meet.

 Side: A side is a straight line joining two corner points lying adjacent (side
by side) to each other. A side can also be called an edge in a plane fi gure.

                    Square Rectangle

                                               Side Side

                                              Corner Corner
 A square has four sides.  A rectangle has four sides.

 All sides are equal.  The opposite sides are equal.

 It has 4 corners.  It has 4 corners.

                    Circle Triangle

                                                                                                 Side

                                                                                                  Corner

A circle has no sides and corners.  A triangle has three sides.

                                                                             It has three corners.
