Constructing Multiplication Tables by Skip Counting
Carefully observe the tables of 2 and 3. You will fi nd that in the table of 2 we
are actually skipping in 2s and coun ng to get the next number. Similarly, in the
table of 3, we are skipping in 3s and coun ng to get the next number.
2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20
Table of 2:
+2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2 +2
3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 27 30
Table of 3:
+3 +3 +3 +3 +3 +3 +3 +3 +3
We can construct table of any number using the method of skip coun ng. Look
at the following example.
Construct the table of 4 by skip coun ng.
4 8 12 16 20 24 28 32 36 40
Table of 4:
+4 +4 +4 +4 +4 +4 +4 +4 +4
Constructing Multiplication Tables by Grid Patterns
Look at the given grid.
× 1 2 3 4 5
1 1 2 3 4 5
2 2 4 6 8 10
3 3 6 9 12 15
4 4 8 12 16 20
5 5 10 15 20 25
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5
In this grid, the numbers 1 to 5 are wri en horizontally and ver cally and there
is a mul plica on sign (×) in the fi rst box of the grid.
