Patterns in Tables

Some tables have defi nite pa erns which can help us remember them.

                     • Table of 2 is like doubling the number or adding the number to itself.

                          Example: 2 × 2 = 4 (doubling 2 or 2 + 2)

                                       2 × 3 = 6 (doubling 3 or 3 + 3)

                                       2 × 4 = 8 (doubling 4 or 4 + 4), and so on.

                     • Table of 5 ends in either 0 or 5.

                          Example: 5, 10, 15, 20, ….

                              Test Yourself

                      1. Construct the tables of 2 and 3 by repeated addi on.

                      2. Construct the tables of 2 and 5 by skip coun ng.

                      3. Construct the table of 4 by adding 1 to 10 in the table of 3.
