ACTIVITY TIME
Liquids Flow and Take Diff erent Shapes

                       Aim:
To see how liquids fl ow and take diff erent shapes

                       You Need:
Water and containers of diff erent shapes
                       What to Do:

Get containers of diff erent shapes and pour water
                       into them.
                       Observation:

You will observe that water fl ows easily and does not have a fi xed shape. It takes the shape
of the container in which it is poured.

                    Properties of gases
                    • Gases do not have a fi xed shape or size.

                    • Gases spread and fi ll all the space available to

                        them in a closed container.
                    • Most gases are colourless and cannot be seen.

They are present all around us in the air.
                                                                                                 Did You Know!
                    • The oxygen we breathe in and the carbon dioxide
Air is a mixture of gases

                       Aim:
To see how gases spread and fi ll the available spacece

                       You Need:
                       Flat balloons and balloon pump
                       What to Do:
Blow air into the fl at balloons and see what
                       happens to them.

                       Observation:
You will observe that the air you have fi lled spreads and fi lls all the space inside the balloon,
                       making it bigger in size.
