Multiplication of a 2-Digit Number by a 1-Digit Number (with carry over)
            Look at the following example.

            Example 8: Multiply 54 by 8.
Solution: Step 1: Multiply the digit at the ones place by 8. T O
                                                                                                         3
                                    8 × 4 = 32 5 4

                                      32 is a 2-digit number. Write 2 under the × 8
ones place and carry over 3 to the tens 2
                                    place.

Step 2: Multiply the digit at the tens place by 8 H T O
and add the carried over number to the 4 3
                                                                                                         5 4
                                    product.

                                    8 × 5 = 40 and 40 + 3 (carried over) = 43 × 8
Write 3 under the tens place and carry over 4 3 2
                                    to the hundreds place.
                                                                                                    H T O
                                                                                                    4 3
Step 3: Write the carried over digit under the hundreds 5 4
place as it is. × 8

                           So, 54 × 8 = 432. 4 3 2

            Multiplication Facts

              • Two or more numbers can be multiplied in any order. Their product always remains
                  the same.
                  For example, 6 × 18 = 108 and 18 × 6 = 108.
