Be careful while applying design and layout to the Slide Master as it will be applied to the entire presentation.

Microsoft PowerPoint: An application software that helps us to create a presentation
Slide: A page in a presentation

Animation: The process by which multiple pages are displayed rapidly in a sequence such that the
images appear in motion
Transition: The way one slide follows the other on the screen during the slide show
Action buttons: Inbuilt shapes that can be added to a presentation and set a link to another slide,
play a sound or perform other actions

• MS PowerPoint has the capability to create a complete presentation by creating a set of slides.

• PowerPoint allows you to create presentations with graphics, written outlines, cutting and
pasting objects, and almost any style using almost any multimedia resource.

• Animation is the addition of special visual/sound eff ects to the text and graphics on a slide.
• More than one animation eff ect can be applied to the same object or the same animation
eff ect can be applied to several objects by using the option given in the ‘Animation’ group.
• Transition eff ects can be applied to a single slide as well as to all the slides.
• We can add music or sound eff ects to a presentation to add special eff ects. Sound fi les can be
added from fi les stored on a computer. The user can also record his/her voice and insert it in a

• PowerPoint allows its users to link to a web page, e-mail address, fi le, slide in the same
presentation or in a diff erent presentation using hyperlinks and Action buttons.

• We can import data from other applications like Word and Excel, and use it in the presentation.
