     Converting Decimal Numbers to Fractions
                    To convert a decimal number to a fraction, we follow the given steps.
                     • Write the decimal number without the decimal point as the numerator.
                     • Write 1 followed by as many zeros as the number of digits in the decimal part as the
                          denominator.
                    Example 3:  Convert (a) 0.8, (b) 0.95 and (c) 0.096 to fractions.
                                             8                              95                            96
                    Solution:     (a) 0.8 =                    (b) 0.95 =                   (c)  0.096 =
                                             10                            100                           1000
                    Example 4:  Convert (a) 5.09 and (b) 7.24 to fractions.
                                              509       9                     9       9
                    Solution:     (a) 5.09 =       = 5     or 5.09 = 5 +          = 5
                                              100     100                    100     100

                                  (b) 7.24 =       = 7     or 7.24 = 7 +         +     = 7 +      = 7

                    Expanded Form of Decimal Numbers
                    Example 5: Write 135.024 in the expanded form.
                    Solution:     Short form                        Expanded form
                                  135.024  = 1 hundred + 3 tens + 5 ones + 2 hundredths + 4 thousandths
                                                               2      4
