1. Digestion:The process by which food is broken down into simpler forms so that it can be
easily absorbed by the body
2. Saliva: Watery substance produced in the mouth that makes the food soft and helps to
swallow easily
3. Oesophagus: Also known as food pipe, it helps to carry food and liquids from mouth to
stomach
4. Liver: Produces digestive juice which helps in digestion of food and absorption of
nutrients
5. Excretion: The process of removal of wastes from the body
6. Kidneys: Filter and remove wastes, salts and extra water from the blood; also fi lter blood
to produce urine
7. Ureters: Thin tubes that carry urine from kidneys to the urinary bladder
8. Urinary bladder: Stores urine before it is excreted out of the body
9. Urethra: Tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of body
10. Faeces: Wastes which are expelled from the body
