The Excretory System
The excretory system is the organ system responsible for
removing wastes from our body. The process of removal
of wastes from the body through excretory system is kidney
called excretion. The excretory system consists of a pair
of kidneys, a pair of ureters, urinary bladder and urethra. ureter

ACTIVITY TIME
To observe the models of digestive and excretory systems
Go to the biology laboratory along with your class teacher and observe the models of digestive
and excretory systems. Draw well-labelled diagrams of both the organ systems.
Healthy Food Habits Related to Digestion and Excretion
Developing healthy food habits helps in proper digestion of food and excretion of
wastes from our body. This keeps our body healthy. By following some simple ways that
are mentioned below, we can keep our body systems healthy.
• Wash your hands properly before and after every meal.
• Eat a diet that is rich in fi bre. It helps in easier movement
of food through the digestive system. Oats, beans and
fruits like banana, apple and orange are rich sources of
f ibre.
