Selecting Table and Its Components
Let’s learn to select diff erent components of a cell.
Selection Action
Cell Triple-click in the cell.
Row • Move the mouse to the left of the row margin.
• Click the left mouse button.
Column • Place the mouse pointer over the top of the column.
• Click the left mouse button.
Entire table • Double-click on the Table move handle.
Selecting Text Inside a Single Cell
Let’s learn to select the text inside a single cell using the mouse.
Selection Action
Word Double-click on the word.
Sentence Hold down the Control (Ctrl) key. Click anywhere in the sentence.
Block of text Drag the mouse over the text.
Paragraph Triple-click on the paragraph.
Inserting and Deleting Rows and Columns in a Table
We can insert rows, columns or cells in a table to enter new data after entering data in a table.
We can also delete unwanted rows, columns or cells from a table.
Shortcut Keys
• Press Shift + Del key combination to delete the selected row(s) and column(s) from a table.
• Click anywhere inside the table and press Alt + 5 key on the numeric keypad (with Num Lock off ) to
select an entire table.
Inserting Columns/Rows in a Table
We can add columns or rows in a table in between while working on it. New columns can be
added to the right or left of any existing column and rows can be added above or below the
selected row.
Follow these steps to inserts rows and columns.
1. Select the column by clicking on its top border adjacent to which a new column needs
to be inserted.
