 Application Icons  :  These icons represent the graphical images
                                                of applications.




                     Shortcut Icons         :  These icons take the user directly to the specifi c file, folder or

                       application. These icons are represented by an arrow on the lower left corner.
                     Document Icons           :  The icons of the applications
                       running on a computer are displayed on the

                       Taskbar. The document window can be resized by
                       clicking on the icon.

                     Network         :  It allows the user to access various files and folders shared on diff erent
                       computers in a network.

                     Recycle Bin         :  It is a folder that contains all the deleted fi les and folders. The user
                       can restore the deleted fi les and folders from the Recycle Bin.

                    Customising the Desktop


                    The user can make changes in the colour scheme of the computer screen by following
                    the given steps.





                    1.  Right-click on the blank area of the desktop. Select the

                       Personalise option from the list.
                    2.  Click on the Colours option in the left pane.

                                                         3. Select any colour from the ‘Windows colours’ under
                                             Step 3
                                                             the ‘Choose your colour’ section in the right pane.
                                                             The colour scheme of the Start menu and other
                                                             windows will be changed accordingly.
