Steps of Construction:
                                  1. Draw a line MO = 5.5 cm.                                K         5.5 cm        N
                                  2. Taking M as centre and radius = 7 cm, draw an arc above
                                    line MO.
                                  3. Taking O as centre and radius = 4.5 cm, draw another arc 4.5 cm 7 cm 4.5 cm
                                    intersecting the arc in step 2 at N.
                                     Join MN and ON.
                                 4. Taking N as centre and radius = 5.5 cm, draw an arc (to the
                                    left of ON).                                              M         5.5 cm       O
                                 5. Taking M as centre and radius = 4.5 cm, draw another arc intersecting the arc in step 4 at K.
                                    Join KM and KN.
                                    Hence, MONK is the required parallelogram. 5.2 cm
                                                                                                    E                 R
                    Example 9: Construct a rhombus PURE with side PU = 5.2 cm and diagonal
                                  PR = 6.8 cm.
                    Solution: Construction: Draw a rough sketch of the figure to be constructed. 5.2 cm 6.8 cm 5.2 cm
                                  Note: Rhombus is a quadri lateral with all sides equal so
                                  PU = RU = RE = EP = 5.2 cm.
                                                                                                      P      5.2 cm   U
                                  Steps of Construction:                                                 Rough sketch
                                                                                                             E
                                  1. Draw a line PR (diagonal) = 6.8 cm.

                                  2. Taking P as centre and radius = 5.2 cm radius draw two arcs, 5.2 cm 5.2 cm
                                    one above PR and the other below PR.

                                  3. Taking R as centre and radius = 5.2 cm, draw two arcs intersecting P 6.8 cm R
                                    the arcs in step 2 at E and U respectively. Join PE, ER, PU and
                                    UR.                                                             5.2 cm        5.2 cm

                                 Hence, PURE is the required rhombus.
                                                                                                            U
                    Example 10:  Construct a trapezium ABCD in which AB = 6.5 cm, DC = 4.8 cm, BC = 4 cm and ∠ B = 60°.
                                  given that AB || DC. Y
                    Solution:     Steps of construction:
                                  1.   Draw AB = 6.5 cm.                          X     D     4.8 cm       C
                                  2.   Construct ∠ABY = 60°.
                                  3.  Locate C on BY at a distance 4 cm from B.                                 4 cm
                                  4.  Construct ∠YCX = 60°. This will make CX || AB.
                                  5.  On CX, locate a point D such that DC = 4.8 cm.      A          6.5 cm            B
                                  5. Join AD. ABCD is the required trapezium.
