EXERCISE 17.2

                      1.  Construct  a  quadrilateral  RUBY  in  which  RU  =  5.5  cm,  UB  =  2.6  cm,  BY  =  4.2  cm,  diagonal
                        RB = 6.8 cm and diagonal UY = 5.2 cm.
                      2.  Construct a quadrilateral  SWIM in which  WI = 6.5 cm,  SI =  SM = 5 cm,  IM = 4 cm and
                        WM = 9 cm. Measure the fourth side.
                      3.  Construct a quadrilateral MORE in which ME = 4.5 cm, OR = 3.5 cm, RE = 5.1 cm, MR = 8.3 cm and
                        OE = 4.2 cm.
                      4.  Is it possible to construct a quadrilateral MIST in which MI = 3.5 cm, ST = 3.5 cm, TM = 7.9 cm,
                        MS = 8.4 cm and IT = 4.5 cm? Give reasons for your answer.

                    Construction of a Quadrilateral Given 4 Sides and an Angle                                 2.8 cm
                    Example 3:    Construct a quadrilateral  MILE in which  MI = 3 cm,  IL = 3.3 cm,                   L
                                  LE = 2.8 cm, EM = 3.5 cm and –M = 70º.                               3.5 cm
                    Solution:     Construction: Draw a rough sketch of the figure to be constructed.                   3.3 cm

                                  1. Draw a line MI = 3 cm.

                                  2.  At point M on line MI, draw –IMX = 70º using a protractor.          X

                                  3.  Taking M as centre and radius = 3.5 cm, cut an arc on MX       E    2.8 cm      L
                                    intersecting it at E.

                                  4.   Taking E as centre and radius 2.8 cm, draw an arc to the right
                                    of ME.                                                       3.5 cm
                                  5.   Taking I as centre and radius 3.3 cm, draw an arc intersecting              3.3 cm
                                    the arc in step 4 at L. Join LI and LE.                       70º

                      1.  Construct a quadrilateral PACK in which PA = 4 cm, AC = 3.6 cm, CK = 4.7 cm, PK = 5.2 cm and
                        ∠A = 80º.
                      2.  Construct a parallelogram WEAK in which WE = 6.5 cm, EA = 5 cm and ∠E = 110º.
                      3.  Construct a kite TEAM in which TE = EA = 4.5 cm, TM = AM = 6.2 cm and ∠TEA = 120º.


                    Construction of a Quadrilateral Given 3 Sides and 2 Included Angles
                    Example 4:    Construct a quadrilateral  DEAR in which  DE = 4 cm,                  A
                                  EA = 5 cm, AR = 4.5 cm, –E = 60º and –A = 90º.                  4.5 cm  90º
