                           (a) 45 ÷ 5 (b) 32 ÷ 8 (c) 416 ÷ 4 (d) 396 ÷ 6

                              Values and Life Skills

                      1. Nishant works as a volunteer in a public library. He always works for a total of 3 hours

each me he goes. Last week Nishant worked for 12 hours. How many days did he
volunteer at the library? Have you ever volunteered for any work? If yes, share your
                           experience.
                      2. Honey made 75 gree ng cards for charity. She sold them and raised ` 600. How much
did she charge for each card? By doing charity, what quali es do you imbibe in your life?

                      3. Ajay had 580 s ckers. He bought 120 more. Then he divided them into 4 equal parts.
He gave 1 part to his sister. How many s ckers is Ajay le with and how many s ckers
did he give to his sister? Do you think sharing things with your siblings is good?

                      ACTIVITY

                         What To Do?

To reinforce the concept of division by equal grouping

                         What We Need?
An empty egg tray and beads/buttons

                         How To Do?
                            Work in pairs.
 Each pair will need an empty egg tray and about 50 beads/buttons.

 The teacher will write a simple division problem on the board, for example, 48 ÷ 4.
 Each pair will then count 48 beads/buttons and use 4 pockets of egg tray to divide

the beads/buttons equally. You may start by placing 1, 2, 3 or 4 beads/buttons in
                               each pocket at a time.
 The pair which fi nishes fi rst will be declared the winner.

Extension: The teacher may write more division problems on the board and ask the
                         children to solve them.
