EXERCISE 19.1

                      1. Name two objects that we see around us in the form of a:

                         (a) cube (b) cuboid (c) cone (d) sphere (e) cylinder
                      2. What is the shape of the following?

                         (a) Football (b) C.P.U. (c) Ice cream cone (d) Die
                         (e) TV box (f) Dictionary (g) Steel almirah (h) Wheels of a road roller
                      3. Identify the nets which can be folded to form a cube.

                        (a) (b) (c)

                         (d) (e) (f)

                      4. Which of these nets will make a triangular prism?

                         (a) (b) (c) (d) (e)

                      5. Can any of these be a net of a die (cube)? Remember opposite faces of a die always have a total
                        of seven dots on them.

                         (a) (b)

                      6. Using the figure given below, draw any two nets of a cube.

                      7. Identify two nets of a tetrahedron.

                          (a) (b) (c) (d)

                    Visualizing Solid Objects
                                                                                                             Top
When you visualize a solid object, it is not necessary that whole of it can be seen
at the same time. The view of the solid may also depend upon the direction or
side from where it is seen. Moreover, in combined shapes some part of the solid
may be hidden from the view.

Let’s take some cubes and arrange them as shown in the figure. Front Side
