4.  Solve the following word problems.
                    (a)  Manav went to eat pizza with his parents. They bought one small pizza for

                        ` 115 and 80 p, a large size pizza for ` 180 and 95 p and a can of juice for ` 65.
                        How much did they spend in all?
                   (b)  Anshu bought 1 kg rice for ` 125.50. He gave a ` 200 note to the shopkeeper.

                        How much money should he get back?
                    (c)  Aggarwal Fruit shop sells 1 kg apples for ` 80, 1 kg oranges for ` 65, 1 dozen
                        banana for ` 72, 1 kg pears for ` 95, 1 packet of cherries for ` 80 and 1 packet
                        of grapes for ` 85. Make a rate chart for them.

                    (d)  Mrs Kapoor goes to Fresh Fruit shop and buys 3 kg apples for ` 90 per kg, 1 dozen
                        banana for ` 65 per dozen, 2 packets of grapes for ` 75 per packet and 1 packet
                        of cherries for ` 270 per packet. Make a bill for her purchase. If she gives ` 600 to
                        the shopkeeper, how much money will he return to her?

            Sheenu bought 1 kg pack of a washing powder for ` 159.50. She gave a ` 200 note to the
            shopkeeper. How much money should she get back? The shopkeeper returned ` 36.50 to
            Sheenu. Was the amount returned correct? What would you do if you were in her place?



              ACTIVITY

                  Go with an adult to the nearest grocery shop and find out the rates of the following
                  food items.

                       •  A packet of noodles
                       •  A packet of arhar dal (1 kg)

                       •  A packet of bread
                       •  A packet of oats
                       •  A packet of cornflakes

                       •  A packet of rice (1 kg)

                  Make a rate chart of these items. Calculate the total amount you will need by making
                  a bill.
