Converting Hours to Minutes Remember
1 hour = 60 minutes or 1 h = 60 min The short form of hours

To convert hours to minutes, we multiply the number of seconds is s.

then add the number of minutes to it.

Example 4: Convert the following to minutes: (a) 18 h and (b) 16 h 55 min.
Solution: (a) 18 h = (18 × 60) min = 1080 min

(b) 16 h 55 min = (16 × 60) min + 55 min = 960 min + 55 min = 1015 min

Converting Days to Hours
1 day = 24 hours

To convert days to hours, we multiply the number of days by 24.

To convert days and hours to hours, we multiply the number of days by 24 and then add
the number of hours to it.
Example 5: Convert the following to hours: (a) 3 days and (b) 5 days 20 h.

Solution: (a) 3 days = 3 × 24 h = 72 h

(b) 5 days 20 h = (5 × 24) h + 20 h = 120 h + 20 h = 140 h
