Countable Nouns
Read the following sentences.
The same day a customer came in and bought the shoes.
The elves were delighted to see the clothes and the shoes on the table.
The highlighted words are examples of countable nouns.
Countable nouns refer to things that can be counted. They may be singular or plural. For
example:
house houses
book books
bun buns
plate plates
With countable nouns we use words like a, an, few, a few, many, several, etc. to indicate
number or quantity.
