                    Dorothy meets the Scarecrow on her way to the Emerald City. It suddenly starts

                    talking to her. Listen to their conversa  on and answer the following ques  ons.

                            1.  Why was the Scarecrow not feeling very good?

                            2.  What was the Scarecrow’s first request to Dorothy?

                            3.  When did the Scarecrow feel like a new man?

                            4.  Why was Dorothy going to the Emerald City?

                            5.  Why didn’t the Scarecrow know about the Emerald City?

                            6.  What did Dorothy offer to do for the Scarecrow?



                           Speaking


                    Spin a Yarn


                    Form groups of five or six students each and sit in circles. Each group will choose the
                    beginning of a story. One student will add a sentence to that and the next student will add
                    another sentence. This will continue till the story reaches a conclusion. If it is a known
                    story, follow the plot. You can also create your own story. Here is a cue for one story:

                    Once upon a time, there lived a cruel lion in a jungle. One day, he called all the animals of the jungle
                    and said, ‘I am tired of hunting every day. From now on, I want you to choose someone amongst

                    yourselves and send them to me as a meal . . .



                          Writing


                    The story ‘The Cyclone’ is in the form of a comic strip. Rewrite the en  re story in
                    the form of a short story.




                           Activity



                    Pick any character from ‘The Cyclone’ and role-play the story in class in groups of
                    four or fi ve.
