Refl exive Pronouns
Read the following sentence.
‘Quick Dorothy! Run for the cellar! Save yourself!’
Yourself is used as a reflexive pronoun here. When the subject in a sentence is also the
receiver of the action (direct object), we use reflexive pronouns to replace the direct object.
(You) save yourself.
Words like myself, himself, herself, itself and ourselves are reflexive pronouns.
