• MS Excel is an application software. It is used to store and analyse numerical data.
• The default names of the worksheets in the workbook are Sheet 1, Sheet 2 and so on.
• Columns are labelled from left to right with letters as A, B, C, D and so on.
• Rows are numbered from top to bottom along the left edge of the worksheet as 1, 2, 3 and so
on.
• Three types of data that can be entered into MS Excel worksheets are Number data, Text data
and Formulae data.
• The Ribbon is the panel at the top portion of the document. It has seven tabs. They are Home,
Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review and View. Each tab is divided into groups.
• We can enter data into cells.
• Formulae can be used for performing calculations on a worksheet.
