Activity Corner
Based on your previous knowledge, create a Word fi le on the desktop on the topic ‘Unity in
Diversity’. Format the fi le as per your choice. Copy the fi le to a new location.
File Manager application provides information about various files, folders, and drives present
on a computer. The user can access, edit, manage, and organise files and folders as desired.
We can also create, rename and delete files and folders. Let’s learn to view, copy, move files and
folders, and transfer data from one device to another in this chapter.
• A file is a collection of information stored together on a computer under a particular
name.
• A folder stores and organises relevant computer files together.
Moving or Copying a File/Folder from One Drive to Another
Moving a fi le/folder means moving it from original location to another location. Copying a fi le/
folder means creating a duplicate copy of the selected fi le/folder at any desired location.
Follow the given steps to move or copy a fi le or folder.
1. Double-click on the This PC icon on the desktop. You will see hard disk drives,
CD/DVD drives, removable devices and network locations connected to your
