Some popular social networking sites used nowadays are Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
These websites display the profi les of the users containing their personal information
and images. Sometimes, the user may come across fake profi les on these websites.
Therefore, it is important to be careful while sharing your information and images online.
Following points should be kept in mind while using the social networking sites.
• Always check the user’s profi le before accepting the friend request.
• Ensure that your personal information and images are only visible to your contacts,
and are not displayed publically. Adjust the privacy settings of your account to stay
safe online as your information can be misused.
• Be careful while posting comments online. Do not post any such comments which
may embarrass others or off end them in anyway.
• Always talk to your parents or elders if someone is troubling you online.
• Do not post other’s pictures without their consent.
E-mail Netiquette
It is important to be careful while sending and receiving e-mails. Take care of the given
points while doing the same.
• Keep your e-mail address as private as possible. Spammers will send you lots of
unsolicited e-mails if they get hold of it.
• Always use a virus scanner before opening any attachment, even from people you
know.
• Before sending an e-mail, check and re-check the address. Remember, even if it is
just one character out, it will not be received. Clicking the Reply box in an e-mail and
then writing your message will ensure that you have the correct address.
