Disadvantages of a Computer

Computers are of great help to humans. But they also have some disadvantages

as discussed here.

• Impact on Environment: A computer is an electronic device. When an

electronic device is of no use, it forms e-waste. The waste that contains
electronic devices like computers and mobile phones is called e-waste.

This waste when not treated properly causes pollution.

Also, fuel in huge amount is burnt in power plants to produce electricity

which is used to run a computer. This also causes pollution.

• Decisions: A computer cannot decide on its own. Humans need to give

instructions to the computer to make it work properly.

• Health: Spending too much time on a computer can be harmful for the
eyes. It can also cause problems such as back pain.

• Computer Viruses: Computer viruses can attack the computer due to which
it may not work properly.

• Cyber Crimes: Personal information such as names, addresses and passwords
of users can be accessed using a computer. Such acts of stealing data are

called cyber crimes.
