24:00/2400 hours 12:00 midnight
Given below are the ways of converting time from one clock time to the other.
• 12-hour clock to 24-hour clock
If the given time is between 12:00 midnight to 12:59 a.m., subtract 12 hours from it.
Examples, 12:00 – 12:00 = 0000 hours 12:35 a.m. – 12:00 = 0035 hours
If the given time is between 1:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m., do not change it.
Examples, 1:00 a.m. = 0100 hours 11:30 a.m. = 1130 hours
If the given time is between 1:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., add 12 hours to it.
Examples, 2:45 p.m. + 12:00 = 1445 hours 4:20 p.m. + 12:00 = 1620 hours
• 24-hour clock to 12-hour clock
If the given time is between 0000 hours to 0059 hours, add 1200 hours and a.m. to it.
Examples, 0000 hours + 1200 hours = 12:00 midnight
0030 hours + 1200 hours = 12:30 a.m.
If the given time is between 0100 hours to 1159 hours, just add a.m. to it.
Examples, 1020 hours = 10:20 a.m. 1120 hours = 11:20 a.m.
If the given time is between 1200 hours to 1259 hours, just add p.m. to it.
Examples, 1210 hours = 12:10 p.m. 1243 hours = 12:43 p.m.
