Table on Fingers

You can use your fingers to learn the table of 9. Suppose you wish to find the product
            6 × 9.

Step 1: Number your fingers from 1 to 10 as shown.
                                           3 8
                                       2 4 7 9
                                   1
                                                                                       10

                                                        5 6

                                      left hand right hand
Step 2: To find 6 × 9, fold the finger marked 6 (in this case it is the thumb of the

                     right hand).
                                           2 3 4 7 8 9
                                        1 10

                                                           5 6

                                                                      folded finger

Step 3: (a) Count the number of fingers before the folded finger. This gives the tens
digit of the product (here it is 5).

                     (b) Then count the number of fingers after the folded finger. This gives the
ones digit of the product (in this case it is 4).

                                                                                4

                                                          5

                                                                      folded finger
            So, 6 × 9 = 54.

            Now find: (a) 8 × 9 (b) 7 × 9 (c) 4 × 9 (d) 3 × 9
