            Face Value and Place Value

We know that digits make numbers. For example, 1, 3 and 7 are digits of the
            number 137.

Every digit in a number has a face value and a place value.

                              Face Value Place Value

             • The face value of a digit is the digit • The place value of a digit depends on
itself. its face value and its place in a number.

             • The face value of a digit never • The place value of a digit changes
changes. with the change in place.
