                    Roman numerals are used on clock faces in place of Hindu-Arabic numerals. Where else
                    are they used? Take the help from your parents. Find out some more number systems
                    used in the ancient period. Is it good to know about ancient cultures and their prac  ces?




                      ACTIVITY

                         What To Do?

                         To reinforce the concept of Roman numerals

                         What We Need?
                         Thermocol sheet, cutter, matchsticks, a pair of scissors, ice cream sticks, glue stick and
                         a thumb pin

                         How To Do?
                              Cut the thermocol sheet in the shape of a circle with the

                               help of the cutter (you may paint it in any colour of your
                               choice).
                              Use matchsticks to make Roman numerals 1 to 12 on the

                               circle as shown in the sample fi gure.
                              Use the ice cream sticks to make two hands—short and long.
                                Put the hands of the clock one on top of the other and pin them in the centre of

                               the circle using the thumb pin. Your clock with Roman numerals is ready.
