Shaarvi has ` 2,015, Sarvan has ` 2,105 and Shikha has ` 1,250. Who has the largest
amount? Is it a good habit to save money? Why?

What To Do?
To check the understanding of number names and place value
What We Need?
Chart paper (old greeting cards or visiting cards can also be used), a pencil and crayons
How To Do?
Make a set of 10 number cards from 0 0 1 2 3 4
to 9 by writing one number on each
card. Shuffl e the cards and place them 5 6 7 8 9
facing down.
Also, make 6 place value cards from

ones to lakhs by writing one place
value on each card.
Hundreds Tens Ones
Divide the class into groups of four.
Call a group and ask a child from the group to come and pick any 5 number cards.
Ask the child to form the largest 5-digit number using the cards. For example, if
the number cards picked up are 4, 2, 5, 1 and 0, then the largest 5-digit number
formed will be 54,210.
Ask the second child to keep the place value cards of all the digits of the number
formed below the digits.

The third child will form the smallest 5-digit number using the same cards.
The fourth child will tell the number name of the number formed.
Repeat the same activity with all the groups. Ask some groups to pick 6 number
cards and form the smallest and the largest 6-digit numbers. You can also ask
some groups to form numbers with 6 or any other number at the tens place or
any other place.
