Perform any fi ve activities to prove that air is all around us.
For example, blow a balloon, tie it with a thread, then
leave it free and observe if it moves. As the balloon is a

                    Let’s make and fl y a kite.
                    You Need:

A sheet of kite paper, tape, scissors, a ruler, thread, a marker and two
                    very thin wooden sticks.

                    What to Do: Figure A
                    1. Fold the kite paper and lay it on a table.
                    2. Using the marker and the ruler draw a shape on the paper as shown
                       in figure A.
                    3. Take the scissors and cut out the shape as shown in figure B.
                                                                                                            Figure B
                    4. Unfold the paper. The diamond shape of the kite is ready.
                    5. Now take the two wooden sticks and tape them on the corners
of the diamond such that they intersect each other as shown in
                       figure C.
                    6. Cut out a thin and long stripe of kite paper and attach it at the bottom
                                                                                                            Figure C
corner of the diamond as shown in figure D.
                    7. Now, with the help of an elder, punch two holes in the kite—one at
the intersecting point of the two sticks and another slight above the
                       bottom corner of the diamond.

                    8. Take a 20 cm long piece of thread. Carefully insert its one end through
the top hole and another end through the bottom hole. Tie both the Figure D
ends of the thread to the stick as shown in figure E.
                    9. Your kite is now ready. On a windy day, go to an open ground with
an elder and try to fly your kite. You will also need a roll of thread to
fly the kite higher in the sky.
                                                                                                            Figure E
