Tangram
A tangram is a Chinese puzzle made up of 7
pieces. These pieces are called tans and are

            cut from a square.
We can make different shapes, letters, animal
figures and other things using tans. Tangram Tans

            Tiling

All of us have seen tiles on the walls and floors of kitchens, bathrooms and even rooms.
We use tiles to cover a surface. They can be of any shape, size, design and colour. Arranging
tiles in a pattern such that they fit next to each other without leaving any gaps in between
is known as tiling or tessellation.
Observe the following figures. The arrangement shown in these figures is called tiling.

Observe that there is no gap in between any 2 tiles.

            Look at the following figures.

In these arrangements, there is space in between the tiles. Such arrangements are not
            tilings.
