predecessor. Consecutive numbers can also be
written backwards. For example,
Number that comes just after a given number the series 1320, 1319, 1318, 1317,
or is one more than it, is called its successor. and 1316 shows the consecutive
numbers written backwards.
Let’s consider a 4-digit number 5863, and
find its predecessor and successor.

The predecessor of 5863 is 5863 – 1 = 5862 and its successor is 5863 + 1 = 5864.
