            Numbers and Number Names

We use any four digits from 0 to 9 to write a 4-digit number. These digits are written under
Th (Thousands), H (Hundreds), T (Tens) and O (Ones).
We cannot write 0 at the thousands place as it will then become a 3-digit number.

                   Th H T O
                    2 5 6 4 = 2 thousands + 5 hundreds + 6 tens + 4 ones

On an abacus, 2564 is shown as,

                      Th H T O
                                                  Rod Th reads in thousands.

                                                  Rod H reads in hundreds.

                                                  Rod T reads in tens.

                                                  Rod O reads in ones.
