5. Name one aspect of Marco Polo’s account that you fi nd hard to believe. Give reasons for your

Read the following sentences. The two sentences use the highlighted word with diff erent functions.
A number of merchants formed an organization.
They number the boats to know who they belong to.
Note that in the fi rst sentence the word number serves the function of a noun and in the second, that
of a verb. Now look at another example:
The fi shers supply the oysters to other countries.
The supply of the pearls was very regular.
In the fi rst sentence, the word supply is used as a verb and in the second, as a noun.

and circle it when used as a noun.
