Read the following sentences.
Sara is reading a book. She hears a sound.
In the second sentence, instead of repeating the name Sara, we used she.
Now, read the following sentences.
1. My name is Sara. I want a pet.
2. Sara says to Benny, ‘You have a pet cat.’
3. Mother laughs. She says, ‘Toads have big eyes.’
4. Father is late. He is busy.
5. Sara has a book. It has pictures of animals.
6. Frogs and toads are different. But they look like each other.
7. Akhil and Noor say, ‘We like frogs.’
In the above sentences, the words I, you, she, he, it, they and we are used in
place of Sara, Benny, Mother, Father, book, frogs and toads, and Akhil and
Noor.
We use I when we talk about ourselves.
When we talk to one or more than one person, we use you.
When there is more than one person, animal or thing, we use we and
they.
