‘Frogs live near water. Toads do not,’ replies Mother.
2
Sara looks puzzled . She looks at her book again.
Mother says, ‘Look, the toad has rough skin. The frog has smooth skin.
3
Frogs have narrow bodies and long legs. Toads have wide bodies and
short legs.’
‘This toad has such big eyes. They look like footballs,’ says Sara.
Mother laughs. She says, ‘Yes, toads have very big eyes. Frogs too have
big round eyes.’
Sara likes the toad. She says, ‘I will keep it as my pet. I will share my milk
with it.’
Mother laughs and says, ‘Sara, toads eat insects. They don’t drink milk.’
‘Can I catch it?’ asks Sara.
‘No, Sara,’ says Mother, ‘it will feel
sad. It likes to play on its own.’
‘Okay,’ says Sara, ‘I will open the
4
front door. It can hop into the
garden.’
Sara opens the door. The toad hops
around in the garden. Sara watches
it. She feels happy.
