3 I Want a Pet

Look at the pictures of the two animals given below. Do you know their names?

Will you keep these animals as your pets? Why or why not?

Sara is reading a book. It has

pictures of animals.

‘CROAK, CROAK!’ she hears a

sound. A small brown animal is on
the floor. It is looking up at her.

Sara calls out loudly, ‘Mother!
There is a frog in our house.’

Mother looks at the animal. ‘It is a

toad, Sara,’ she says.

‘But it looks like the frog in my book. See!’ Sara shows her a picture in

the book.

Mother smiles and says, ‘Frogs and toads look like each other. But they

are different .’
‘How are they different?’ asks Sara.
