Spamming
Spams are unwanted mails that are received in bulk from
unknown sources. Spam mails are mostly advertising mails.
Spams sometimes include phishing mails too. Such mails also
contain viruses, worms and Trojans. Most of the messages
that do not include the e-mail address of the individual in ‘TO’
are spam mails.
Guidelines to Prevent Spamming
• Avoid giving your e-mail address to websites unless it is mandatory.
• Do not reply to any of the spams.
• Avoid reading mails from unknown sources and delete them.
• Do not click on any of the links from e-mail received from an unknown source.
Individual Right to Privacy
Privacy defi nes the rights of the individual users or organisations to keep their personal data
and information a secret. Privacy is a major topic of concern. Most people want that their
personal information should not be monitored by
others without their consent. However, the present
information technology enables people to monitor
and collect personal data without the individual’s
consent.
Privacy hindrance comes into picture when personal
information of an individual is used or shared without
his/her consent. Use of the Internet and certain apps
can aff ect the privacy of an individual’s data.
Guidelines to Protect Privacy
• Never share your login details with anyone.
• Never share your personal information on any website.
• Always set the privacy of your social networking account.
• Always install antivirus software and Firewall to protect your system and the data stored
in it.
• Always keep your system password protected.
• Always enter your personal information only on offi cial sites
• Do not click on any link received on an e-mail from a stranger.
