Type the given text in WordPad and make a list of the various keys used while typing it.
A computer is an electronic device. It is a smart machine. Computers are used at most places
because they are fast and accurate. They also have a high memory.

Mouse

A mouse helps us to point at or select an object on a computer

screen. It usually has two buttons: left button and right button.
When we press and release the left mouse button, it is called
a click. A single-click refers to clicking the left mouse button
once. It is used to select a fi le, a folder or an application. Mouse

Double-click refers to pressing the left mouse button twice
quickly. It is used to open a fi le, a folder or an application. Right-click refers to clicking
the button on the right side. This click opens a drop-down menu with a few options. We

will study about these options later.

Other Hardware Devices

Let’s learn about some more hardware devices other than the main parts of a computer.

• Printer: We use a printer to take printouts of our work

on paper. Hard copy is the output printed on paper.

A soft copy is an electronic copy of any kind of data. It is the information that
can be viewed on a computer screen rather than what is printed on paper.

• Plotter: It is a type of printer which takes commands from

a computer to draw line drawings which also involves text.
The output is printed by moving coloured pens across the
paper to draw continuous point-to-point lines.
