Managing waste
The best way to manage waste is to follow the three R’s—reduce, reuse and recycle.
Besides being very eff ective in managing non-biodegradable waste, it is also useful in
managing biodegradable waste.
Reduce
It is necessary to reduce the amount of waste we produce.
• Use products with less packaging or with packaging that can be reused or refi lled.
• Use washable plates and cups instead of disposable ones in parties or while
travelling.
• Carry your own cloth bag for shopping. Avoid using plastic Reduce
bag.
• Use cloth napkins to wipe your hands instead of paper
napkins.
• Use paper on both sides when you study. Recycle Reuse
• Buy things only if you need them.
