Light energy

Like heat, light is also a form of energy. It makes things
visible to us. The sun is the natural source of light on earth.
Other sources of light energy include bulbs, candles and

tube lights.

Magnetic energy

Magnets exert force on other magnets and iron objects.
This force is due to the energy of the magnet known as the
magnetic energy. This form of energy is used for various

purposes like lifting heavy iron objects using a strong
magnet, separation of iron objects from other metallic

objects and running electromagnetic trains.

Sound energy

Sound is a form of energy which is produced as a result of
vibration of objects. The vibrations travel through air and

reach our ears producing the sensation of hearing. Sound
energy is produced by radios, music players, musical

instruments like sitar, guitar and piano.

What to Do:

Call out the name of any one of your friends without informing him/her that you are performing
an activity.
You will see that your friend turns around his/her face and looks at you. This is due to the sound of
your voice in his/her ears. Thus, we can say that sound is a form of energy that travels through air
and reaches our ear to produce a sensation of hearing.

Solar energy

The vast amount of energy obtained from the sun is called

solar energy. It is utilised by plants for preparing food. Sun
is also a source of light and heat energy.
