1. An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 9 m per min. If the descent starts from
20 m above the ground level, how long will it take to reach –250 m? Have you ever been in
an elevator? What you will do if you are stuck in an elevator?
2. A chair costs ` 120. Peter bought 30 chairs. By mistake the shopkeeper charged ` 10 less per
chair. To be fair to all, find whether Peter had to pay or receive the money. What is the extra
amount? What will you do if by mistake, shopkeeper returns you extra money?
