(a) What is the minimum number of children in a family?

                   (b) What is the maximum number of children in a family?
                   (c) What is the most common number of children in a family of the colony?

                   (d) How many families have 2 children?
               2. A die was thrown 24 times and the following scores were obtained:

                   3, 5, 6, 2, 5, 2, 4, 2, 1, 2, 3, 6, 1, 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4, 3, 2, 5, 6
Prepare a table using tally marks. Now, answer the following questions:
                   (a) Which score has occurred the maximum number of times?

                   (b) Which score has occurred the minimum number of times?
                   (c) Find the numbers that appear an equal number of times.

               3. In a readymade garments store, on a particular day the following sizes of shirts were sold.
                   32, 36, 32, 38, 40, 44, 40, 38, 40, 32, 42, 40, 40, 38, 34, 36, 38, 34, 40, 40, 40, 34, 40, 42,
                  44, 42, 40, 40, 44, 40

Prepare a table using tally marks and answer the questions given below:
                   (a) Which shirt size had the minimum sale?

                   (b) Which shirt size had the maximum sale?
               4. Birthday chart of the students of class VI is shown below:

Month Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar
                   No. of students 2 3 1 0 3 7 6 5 4 1 1 2
Represent this information by placing faces in place of numbers in order to draw a pictograph
                  of the above information.

                   (a) In which month do maximum birthdays fall?
                   (b) Is there a month in which none of the students have their birthday?
               5. In a school, the number of students in different classes of primary wing are as follows:

                   Represent this information through
a pictograph using the symbol to Class I II III IV V
                  represent 6 students. No. of students 40 31 47 60 48
                   (a) How many circles will represent the students of class IV?

                   (b) How many circles will represent the students of class I?
                   (c) Which other geometrical figure can be used to represent 6 students?

            Bar Graphs

Drawing pictures to represent data is not only time consuming but also difficult. At times it is not
possible to represent a data by pictograph due to large numbers or data not being a multiple of the
scale assumed. In such cases, we represent the data using rectangular bars for better visualization.
These bars or rectangles are of uniform width with equal spacing between them. The length of
a bar represents the frequency. This visual representation is called bar graph or bar diagram.
