P. 145
Example 3: A fruit seller bought apples from a wholesale market. He sold them for ` 86 per
kilogram thus suffering a loss of ` 15. What was the cost price of the apples?
Solution: S.P. = ` 86 Loss = ` 15
C.P. = S.P. + Loss
= ` 86 + ` 15 = ` 101
Thus, the cost price of 1 kg apple was ` 101.
Example 4: Sonu bought a refrigerator for ` 23,725. He spent ` 200 for its transportation.
He then sold it for ` 37,650. Find the profit earned by Sonu.
Solution: C.P. = ` 23,725 Overhead expenses = ` 200
Actual C.P. = C.P. + Overhead expenses
= ` 23,725 + ` 200 = ` 23,925
S.P. = ` 37,650
Profit = S.P. – C.P.
= ` 37,650 – ` 23,925 = ` 13,725
Thus, Sonu made a profit of ` 13,725.
