            Multiplying numbers just above 100
            Example 1: Find: 103 × 104

            Solution: 103 is just 3 above 100.
                            104 is just 4 above 100.
                                       Extra

                            103 3 103 + 4 = 107
                                                                      1st number of the solution
                            104 4 104 + 3 = 107
                                                  3 × 4 = 12 2nd number of the solution
                            103 × 104 = 10,712
            Try these: 102 × 105, 103 × 108, 101 × 109, 106 × 106

Easy way to add and subtract fractions

                                 2
            Example 2: Find: + 1
                                 3 5
                                     1
            Solution: 2 + = (2 × 5) + (3 × 1) = 10 + 3 = 13
                            3 5 3 × 5 15 15
                                                   7
                                         3
                                    5
            Example 3: Find: (a) + (b) – 2
                                    7 4 6 3
                                         3
            Solution: (a) 5 + = (5 × 4) + (7 × 3) = 20 + 21 = 41
                                 7 4 7 × 4 28 28
                                         2
                            (b) 7 – = (7 × 3) – (6 × 2) = 21 – 12 = 9 = 1
                                 6 3 6 × 3 18 18 2
Multiplying two-digit numbers where the first digits are same and last digits add upto 10

            Example 4: Find: 32 × 38
                                   2 × 8 = 16 → 2nd number

            Solution: 3 2 × 3 8
                                3 + 1 = 4

                                3 × 4 = 12 → 1st number
                            So, 32 × 38 = 1,216.

            Example 5: Find: 81 × 89
                                 1 × 9 = 9 or 09 → 2nd number
            Solution: 8 1 × 8 9

                                8 + 1 = 9
                                8 × 9 = 72 → 1st number
                            So, 81 × 89 = 7,209.

            Try these: 43 × 47, 24 × 26, 52 × 58, 69 × 61
