                                      VALUES AND LIFE SKILLS

Rajat and Sanjay are good friends. They decide to spend a day together. Read their routine
            and answer the questions.
              (a) Sanjay gets up at 8 o‘clock. Two hours later, he leaves the house with Rajat. What time
                  do they leave the house?
              (b) They walk together and arrive at a park at 10:30 a.m. How long does it take to walk
                  to the park?

              (c) They find that the ice cream shop does not open until 11:30 a.m. How long do they
have to wait until it opens?
              (d) At 12:30 p.m., they play badminton for 15 minutes and then take a break for
10 minutes. What time is it then?
              (e) At 2:00 p.m., Sanjay goes for an hour’s bike-ride around the park. He arrives back at
3:20 p.m. How many minutes late is he?

              (f) They were out from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. How many hours were they out together?
How do you spend time with your friends? Which one is better—to sit and play videogames
or to go out and play outdoor games?

                                        SCRATCH YOUR BRAIN

              1. Read and understand.
                   1 hour = 60 minutes 1 minute = 60 seconds 1 hour = 3600 seconds
                   Now, convert:
                  (a) 2 hours to seconds (b) 15 minutes to seconds
                        1
                   (c) 1 hours to seconds (d) 3 hours 40 minutes to seconds
                        2
              2. Find the sum.

                  (a) 2 hours 15 minutes 20 seconds and 3 hours 20 minutes 16 seconds
                  (b) 4 hours 40 minutes 30 seconds and 1 hour 10 minutes 25 seconds
              3. In a school, the first period starts at 8:00 a.m. If each period is for 30 minutes, what
will be the time at the end of the third period?

                                                                                                                 145
